If you've found this article, you're looking for some breakthrough ways on how to lose waist fat, otherwise known as your abdominal and oblique areas. Well, the news I have for you today is going to set straight a couple of lies being spread around the weight loss community on how to achieve those six-pack abs you've always wanted.
Over the last decade, every weight loss guru I know has jumped on the bandwagon saying that “spot reduction” is a fairytale. Spot reduction is the theory that working out a specific area of your body, let's say the abs, will result in a sufficiently lower body fat percentage just in that location. The funny thing is, if you ask any of these non-believers about why they don't think spot reduction is real, they'll say “I don't know” with a confusing grin on their face. IT”S BECAUSE THEY HOPPED ON THE BANDWAGON!!
I bet you've hopped on that same bandwagon with them and started doing massive cardio workouts to lose weight. Don't get me wrong, cardio has its benefits, but there is a more effective, longer lasting way to lose waist fat that many people just aren't using anymore. And believe it or not, this method is spot reduction. I'm going to tell you why spot reduction actually works and is amazingly effective when combined with your cardio routines.
The old method of spot reduction for the abs involved 100's of sit ups in any given day and unfortunately for you, this won't help you lose waist fat. The new method of spot reduction, my method, implements higher intensity exercises that will make you build muscle in your abs! By building muscle in your abs and obliques, you will not only lose weight faster but you won't be storing any of your body fat in your 6 pack anymore. The reason is that your body has a desire to be evenly distributed, it's just a law your body abides by. If you contain more muscle in your abs then the body fat just won't store there anymore. This is the most important thing you can do if you're struggling on the verge of a slim, toned, abdominal region.
Now you're probably wondering “What are these high intensity exercises he's talking about?” Don't worry I'm going to take care of you because I enjoy helping everyone out. When I say high intensity, this means you shouldn't be able to do more than 6 in any given set. That's just how intense they are. If you can do more than six then you must increase the weight in order for these to be effective. The first exercise is a hanging leg raise. Trust me, if you don't have six pack abs right now, then you won't be able to do six of these! To do this exercise, hang from a pull-up bar and use your momentum to swing your legs straight out in front of you, then attempt to hold it there as long as you can. For most people you're only going to be able to hold it for a fraction of a second but try as hard as you can to keep your legs there. When in the right position, your legs should be close to a 90 degree angle with your upper body. I'm going to go run upstairs and do a set right now (remember 3-6 is optimal) and I'll be back in a second.
OK I'm back. We've covered how to lose waist fat in the abdominal section but now we need to cover the oblique sections. Do you know why your body tends to store fat there? Although genetics can play a role, it's mostly because you have much less muscle in the obliques than your abdominals. If you want to learn this effective oblique weight loss exercise and how to implement these into your workout routine, then head over to my blog right now.
